FORTE PROJECT

Summary:

FORTE project relies in a mature photonic integrated circuit-based hybrid frequency-agile ultra-low noise laser technology and establish a universal platform for coherent laser source and photonic integrated circuit technology that is scalable, flexible, reconfigurable, and extremely high performance in terms of optical coherence and frequency-agility. This hybrid integrated platform, which combines ultra-low loss photonic integrated circuits, with MEMS technology monolithically integrated on a silicon chip, addresses the need for low-noise laser sources in multiple domains of photonic sensing. These lasers will path the way to new photonic sensing configurations especially in distributed fiber optical sensing (DFOS).

General objective:

In FORTE, novel laser sources will be developed and validated in relevant environment with end users and system interrogators according to industrial standards and certification. This will allow Aragon Photonics to bring to the market a novel class of photonic sensing systems in DFOS technologies which will be cheaper, will have better performance and a lower energy consumption.
