Visit to the Casablanca platform

Last April, Repsol invited us to visit the Casablanca platform, off the coast of Tarragona, on the occasion of the participation of Aragon Photonics in the REMO project (File number: CPP2021-008869), a state project to promote scientific-technical research and its transfer, funded by NextGenerationEU/PRTR.

During the day, work was carried out to get to know and inspect the environment in order to identify the location of our HDAS – High-Fidelity Distributed Acoustic Sensor, which will be used for seismic detection. We also analyzed the different alternatives for the deployment of the fiber optic sensor cables necessary for proper data collection.

We would like to thank Repsol for the facilities and the kindness with which we were attended.

Presentation of “Ready for the Tsunami?”

Our leaders Francisco M. López Torres and Jorge López Torres attended the presentation of the documentary “Ready for the Tsunami?” on April 11th, a co-production by Goat Knight with RTVE and the participation of RTP and Movistar.

The event took place at the facilities of the Institut de Ciències del Mar – CSIC, in Barcelona, as part of the event: The Tsunami Night, and was presented by the director of the ICM-CSIC, Valenti Sallares, and the producer Erik Martínez Westley.

The documentary showcases the advancements in early detection of tsunamis currently underway, highlighting the use of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology within the European SAFE Project, in which Aragon Photonics is a participant.

Aragon Photonics contributes its latest innovations in the HDAS interrogator range to the SAFE project, specifically aimed at detecting natural phenomena such as tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic activity, given their unparalleled performance at low frequencies and enhanced sensitivity.

Our presence at SICUR2024

We have been at SICUR 2024 for another year. Last March, two of our colleagues had the pleasure of attending the International Security Exhibition at IFEMA Madrid.

During this day they discovered the new advances and developments in the world of security focused on both surveillance technology and cutting-edge solutions in personal and facility protection.

They also had the opportunity to meet with colleagues from the sector to discuss interesting projects and possible future collaborations.

International Union of Railways (UIC) Workshop

This February we had the opportunity to attend the UIC – International Union of Railways Workshop on Fiber Optic Sensing (FOS) for Track and Structure in Paris. Our CEO Francisco M. López Torres provided invaluable insights into the fundamentals of Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) technology, shedding light on its potential applications within the railway industry.

For us, demonstrating the effectiveness of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology was a major accomplishment since we think it has the potential to completely transform railway security procedures.

Our involvement in this workshop served as a reminder of our dedication to working with railway industry participants and offering creative solutions. We are excited about the possibilities for future collaboration and eager to explore how our technology can contribute to enhancing safety and efficiency in railway operations. Thank you to the organizers of the UIC – International union of railways Workshop for facilitating such a productive and enlightening event.
